SMART Recovery in English & español

SMART Recovery(R) groups are a wonderful FREE non-clinical option for those dealing with addiction, mental illness, anger management, or another behavioral or emotional issue. SMART offers Recovery groups for individuals who are struggling personally, as well as Family & Friends groups for those affected by the struggles of a loved one.

All our SMART Recovery facilitators and group members speak very highly of this model, which is relatively new in CT but has a 25+ year history. SMART groups offer both peer support and skills building. They're facilitated groups that use check-ins, brainstormings and cross-talk to allow group members to validate and support one another, and they use structured worksheets and tools to teach self-management and other skills. To learn more about SMART Recovery and how it differs from 12-step and other programs, visit TurningPointCT.org/smart.

Where can you find SMART groups?

They're popping up throughout CT thanks to seed grants from the State. (Click the links below to download flyers.)

  • We offer SMART Recovery groups aimed at teens in Norwalk (flyer) and Fairfield (flyer), facilitated by the young adults in recovery from our TurningPointCT.org project. Child & Family Guidance in Bridgeport also now has SMART Recovery for teens.

  • We also run a Family & Friends group in Fairfield (flyer).

  • We've been offering 3 SMART groups in Spanish over the phone, which are now being converted to face-to-face groups.

  • Starting January 26, our Spanish-language SMART Family & Friends will meet every Saturday from 2-3:30pm in Bridgeport at DaVinci Studios. Please share the flyer!
