We're one month out from the first annual "Fairfield County Walks for Mental Health" event! We welcome all interested community members from across the county to join us on Saturday, May 6th at 10am on the Norwalk Town Green to kick off Mental Health Awareness Month. No fundraising required! Just come to show your support for the cause of mental health--especially now, when funding is so much at risk.
Please email info@swrmhb.org to let us know how many people will be walking with you! Please also encourage your friends and colleagues to join us by sharing the flyer from our Facebook page with your contacts and by using the hashtag #FfldCtyWalks4MH
See you on Saturday, May 6 at the Norwalk Town Green!
Details:
Gather by 10am at the Gazebo on the Norwalk Town Green (intersection of Park Street and East Avenue). You can park alongside the Green or in the lot at the HSC Community Services building.
We'll have some brief speeches by legislators and organizers to start things off, including a proclamation of Mental Health Awareness Month from the Governor's office. We may also have some laughter yoga as a warm-up!
The Walk will proceed down East Avenue to the 95 overpass, cross the street and return back to the Green. At that point there are 3 options: continue to walk the perimeter of the Green; do the labyrinth activity behind St Paul's on the Green; write your intentions on the Hope-Pray-Dream board in front of St Paul's.
If you're part of a mental health group, such as a support group, advocacy organization, or provider agency, wear your t-shirts to help raise the visibility of what you do!
Everyone will receive a purple bandanna to show that all our groups are part of one overall coalition.
Make sure to take the opportunity to speak to the media and legislators who are present about the importance of mental health!
Don't forget -- please RSVP to info@swrmhb.org with the number of people in your group.
Sorry, no dogs allowed on the Green!
