Regional Suicide Advisory Board (RSAB)

  • Integrates and coordinates suicide prevention, intervention, postvention, and grief support and recovery activities across multiple sectors and settings including all 14 communities in Region 1.

  • Supports the overall vision of the Statewide Connecticut SAB and provides the local and regional infrastructure for suicide prevention and postvention response activities.

This advisory board is made up of local prevention council representatives, clinicians, people with lived experience including survivors of suicide attempts and family members, prevention professionals, school social workers and psychologists, healthcare, municipalities, State Representatives, crisis intervention specialists and first responders. We provide updates from our networks of care and report on emerging trends around suicide- availability of new resources and funding opportunities, identification of at-risk populations, training gaps, programs offered throughout the state of CT and nationally.

RSAB held the first Postvention Training in CT, summer of 2020. Our vision is that each of the 14 towns will have established a Postvention Team that has been trained to use best practices during the response to a suicide in their community.

The committee meets quarterly on 2nd Fridays starting in December, from 10am-12pm. Visit the events page to view dates and RSVP to get the meeting link.

Catchment Area Council (CAC)

If you are concerned about behavioral health services in our region, CAC meetings are a great opportunity for you to have a voice! Come share your experiences, express your ideas, raise awareness, and help identify improvements to the treatment and recovery system!

The “Catchment Area Councils” (CACs) were established by the state to create a mechanism for consumers and providers to work together to identify behavioral health service needs, barriers and initiatives in their communities. CACs meet regularly and members are asked to serve as a liaison from their community or agency to the CAC and vice versa.

CAC serves Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stamford, Weston, Westport, and Wilton, Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, Stratford, and Trumbull.

They meet every other 3rd Thursday of the month from 2:30-4:00 PM. Visit the events page to view dates and RSVP to get the meeting link. Contact program coordinator Kaitlin@ryasap.org for more information.
